At the scene: Sri Lestari, BBC News, over the Java Sea
I boarded a military aircraft at 06:00 at a base in Jakarta and was on board for 10 hours, seven of which were spent searching over the Java Sea near Belitung island.
It took us about two hours to reach the area where the authorities believe the plane was when it lost contact with air traffic control in Jakarta.
Our plane was flying very low - about 300-450m (1,000-1,500ft) above sea level. The weather was very clear and the waters relatively calm.
From the aircraft I could just see the water, a small island and a few fishing boats. The search team was trying to find wreckage or some signal from the missing plane. They were looking at the sea through small windows.
I did the same thing, checking the windows every 15 minutes. But I saw nothing.
At around 14:00 the search team found a slick of oil, but the authorities weren't sure where it had come from.

The news today has not been very busy but new years eve will have a special. Thank you.

Pakistan School In Peshawar Interview
In Pakistan a school had been kept hostage by Taliban and they killed 141 people including staff. The schools name was Army Republic School. It was open for anyone not just army relatives or family. 132 children and 9 staff were killed. 7 Taliban men planned this staying inside the school for 3 days! They wore Army Uniforms and entered the school on a regular basis to see where their plans would take place. A chemistry exam was taking place when 7 men entered the hall with guns. People fled and hid. One boy had his mother working in that school and they were both in the exam. They found each other and hid in a cupboard. Another boy stuffed his tie in his mouth so no noise could be heard. Not even the slightest whimper for fear of being caught was high. There were survivors but no one came out uninjured, everyone had at least a bruise or a scar or blood somewhere on their body. Another student survived because his alarm never rang so he overslept. A news reporter from the BBC came to the school and explained the scene. 'There is fresh blood on the steps. Blood splattered on clear white walls.' Inside the hall. 'Desks toppled , cupboards stained with blood and ties and exam sheets everywhere.' were her exact words.
Interview
I have a friend at school who used to go to this school for her first 5 years of education. I can't say her name due to personal reasons. I will list the questions and answers below.
1: How was the security there when you went?
It was very strict. They made us show our badge, uniform and school bag. One person showed it to 4 soldiers. Yes soldiers guarded our school. They took so much care to not let an unknown person slip through. I am not sure how this unfortunate event happened.
2: Has this happened before?
No, it has not because of the intense security there. They scrutinise every detail.
3: Were any of your old friends killed?
Yes, had twelve friends and they all died. My mum was sad when she heard this because she still kept in touch with some of their mothers.
That is the interview finished.
No offence to anyone but I think Christians are not bothered by this at all only Muslims. I am not sure why. I am not bringing any offence to any one I am just putting my opinion forward. Thanks.

the UK as forecasters warn the weather
could cause disruption.

diverted to Manchester Airport while snow is
cleared off the runway.

east across Northern Ireland, Wales, central
and northern England and Scotland,

XBox and Playstation tackle cyber attacks.
Microsoft and Sony have been working to restore internet platforms for their Xbox and PlayStation gamers' consoles.
Attacks disabled the online services on Christmas Day, making it difficult for users to log on.
A message on the Xbox status page on Friday said that live core services were "up and running". Meanwhile, PlayStation said its engineers were continuing to work on "network issues".
A hacking group called Lizard Squad claimed to have caused the problems.
The name is the same used by a group of hackers that has targeted Sony in the past.
There are 48 million subscribers to Microsoft's system for the Xbox and more than double that for the PlayStation system, which has some 110 million.
Earlier this month Sony was hit by a hacking attack that stole huge amounts of data from its servers.
A connection between Sony movie The Interview, about a fictional plot to assassinate North Korea's leader Kim Jong-un, and the service disruptions has not been confirmed.
The disruption did mean that many families were unable to enjoy their new Christmas presents.
Ros Bruce, from Essex, said her 10-year-old son got an Xbox One for Christmas, had spent most of the day in tears, and called for Xbox to provide compensation.
Ian Hornby, from Lancashire, spent a frustrating time trying to connect a new PlayStation to the Sony network, and said he hoped that the electronics giant would now invest in better protection for its systems.
Thats some of the top stories today.
